Town Chess Tournament November 4 - flyer attached Teaching and Learning Professor Gizmo came to work with grade 3 on a Problem based learning project on designing and building pop fly launchers. This activity tied into Stemscopes Science exploring objects and motion-demonstrating balanced and unbalanced forces. A team from Hasbro came to discuss the process of what it takes to come up with a new toy. They used the Furreal toys as their example. They talked through the brainstorming process and how long it takes trial and error to make a toy like this. They discussed all the possible careers you could have robotics, sound designer, marketing, fashion designer, engineer. They left one Furreal animal for each grade 2 class to have a class pet.

Important Updates Spooky Stroll is October 27th 6:00-8:00. Please consider sending in a carved pumpkin for this event. Pumpkins can be dropped off the morning or throughout the day on the 27th. We are trying to collect 250 pumpkins - if we reach this goal students will have an extra recess. Traffic Updates J.H. Lynch Construction, the firm that is currently repaving the roads in town, met with the School District and the Department of Public Works to provide an update regarding the scheduled road work for next week. Please find the dates and time below. Monday, October 23 Preparation for paving limited road closures Tuesday, October 24 Upland Road to County Road 8:00 am - 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 25 Upland Road to Lincoln Avenue 7:00 am - 12:00 pm Lincoln Avenue to Middle Highway 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Thursday, October 26 Middle Highway to Washington Road 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Friday, October 27 Cedar Avenue and Elm Lane, including curb and sidewalk installations on Lincoln Avenue. Important Updates We need your help with pumpkins for our Spooky Stroll. We have set a challenge of 250 pumpkins! If we achieve collecting 250 Carved pumpkins students will get an extra recess. The more pumpkins we have the better our Stroll! So please consider dropping off a carved pumpkin on October 27th. Due to space constraints we cannot accept pumpkins until the morning of October 27th.
